STP & Wastewater Treatment Safety
Sewage and wastewater treatment facilities present unique workplace hazards.

Untreated wastewater and sewage may contain microorganisms and other contaminants.
Personnel working around wastewater are expected to observe appropriate hygiene practices and use suitable protective equipment.
Direct unnecessary contact with untreated sewage, sludge, and contaminated surfaces should be avoided.
Confined Spaces
Treatment tanks, chambers, manholes, wet wells, underground structures, and certain process vessels may present confined-space hazards.
Entry into a confined space must only be undertaken when properly assessed, authorized, and controlled.

Hazardous Gases
